What is a Schematic Plan?

The schematic plan is the first step in the landscape design process. This takes the initial thoughts and displays them in a graphical form. Typically schematic designs must undergo further design resolution. This is a very useful plan for organisations which want to apply for funding or raise funding for a project.

The level of detail in a schematic plan will vary depending on the project, budget and landscape designer. The landscape plans shown below illustrate a plan for a kindergarten and a schematic planting plan.
