Botanical Traditions - Domestic Residence
Still Under Construction
This project involved concept, preliminary and permit plans to be drawn up. Once council approval was given construction started.
The project uses Australian Hardwood in oversized dimensions to give the deck a bold presence. The timber used for the deck construction is spotted gum which gives various shades of honey through to deep red. A built in seat with hidden storage compartments was also constructed. The deck has a Makrolon roof in the colour steel. This has excellent heat reflection properties.
A modern lighting design was developed which means that the deck can be all year round at day or night.
Random rectangular and square pavers in a light honey colour where used and the drainage is carefully concealed by using a pebble filled channel. The planting plan uses native, indigenous and exotic drought hardy plants. The flowers are blues, purples (Alyogyne Huegelii) and yellows (Brachyscome ‘Pacific Sun’) to highlight the blue trim on the house. The painted fence adds a contemporary backdrop to the planting scheme.
